These SOS (Square opening sachet) bags have rectangular bases and side gussets which means they are easy to fill and stand well. Ideal for confectionery, these bags are high clarity and look great when filled, but better still they are home compostable.
This Eco-friendly bag is made from very clear Natureflex™ film, which made from wood pulp, and certified to the EN 13432 norm for industrially compostable packaging, and the Vincotte OK Home Compost standard. It is also made from renewable, sustainable sources.
The film manufacturer recommends that the bags are stored in suitable conditions and used within 6 months of purchase. Recommended storage conditions are away from local heat sources, out of direct sunlight, and ideally between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius.
The film manufacturer also specifically recommends that the films should not be used in applications that would involve processing, treatment or storage at temperatures below −30°C (for example, blast freezing).
If you are switching from Polypropylene its important that you have a sample bag to try first as Natureflex is a different type of film and you need to be sure it will be suitable for your application. Just send us an email with your address to request a sample.

faqs
How quickly will these bags break down?
Natureflex™ film has the EN 13432 norm for industrially compostable packaging and the Vincotte OK Compost Home standard which means it has been proven to break down within 12 weeks.
What happens if these bags end up in landfill?
These bags are designed to be disposed of by composting - either at home or in an industrial composter. The good news is that if they do end up in landfill, they won't release anything environmentally harmful into the soil or environment (including methane).
What happens if these bags end up in the sea?
NatureFlex ™was tested to and passed the ASTM D7081 standard. This standard demands 30% biodegradation in 30 days in seawater, which was achieved.
This standard is currently ‘dormant’ pending future new standards. The film manufacturer believes that NatureFlex’s ™ biodegradation in such an environment would be roughly linear (i.e. expect 50% biodegradation in 50 days, etc…) It also fully passes the physical disintegration tests of the standard and also passes the marine-ecotoxicity tests.
Would the film be suitable for washed salad leaves (slightly damp when they go in the bag)?
The film will tend to soften over time. It would be OK for short-term use but we wouldn’t recommend it for longer use eg: supermarket bagged salad leaves…
