Our new compostable packing bags are 100% biodegradable and compostable either in an industrial composter of at home. The are light weight but surprisingly strong, foodsafe and ideal for fresh produce like fruit, vegetables and dry foods - they are perfect for farm shops.
These compostable bags are milky white, which is a feature of bags made from Potato starch (from waste potatoes) and other biologically sourced polymers. They are semi transparent and feature repeating logos identifying them as compostable. They conform to the EN13432 standard for compostable packaging, and have also been awared the Vincotte 'OK Compost HOME' certification.
Bags are despatched in a box, loosely wrapped in potato starch film.
The biobased carbon share of the formulation exceeds 30%
Bags can vary slightly in size. Please request a sample if important.
The manufacturer recommends that the bags are stored in their packaging, out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources. They should be used within 6 months of delivery. If you would like to see a sample to check the quality or the size please click here and request one.

faqs
The film these bags are made from has the EN 13432 norm for industrially compostable packaging and the Vincotte OK Compost Home standard which means it has been proven to break down within 12 weeks.
What happens if these bags end up in landfill? These bags are designed to be disposed of by composting - either at home or in an industrial composter. The good news is that if they do end up in landfill, they won't release anything environmentally harmful into the soil or environment (including methane), and they are biodegradable. However it is not the ideal way to dispose of them and they will take some time to disappear. How long depends on lots of factors so we cannot say .
I’m thinking of switching from plastic bags to these – what are the main differences? The main difference between a Polythene bag and these bags are that these bags are not clear, they are semi transparent. They also have a different feel. These bags feel slightly silky. But if you use a light or medium duty polybag you may find that these are a good, eco-friendly alternative. We would always recommend a sample first to make sure they are right for you.
