These biodegradable (oxo-degradable) grip seal bags are made from medium duty polythene which has an additive which acts a s a catalyst, accelerating the degradation process.
The polythene will first degrade and then biodegrade into inert matter in a few months rather than years or centuries.
The bags have a discreet 'Biodegradable' logo on them, in the bottom corner.
These bags are heavy metal free and will biodegrade into carbon dioxide, water, biomass and minerals.
The manufacturer recommends that the bags are used within 12 months of delivery and that they are stored away from direct heat sources and out of sunlight. They should also be stored between 17 - 23 ℃ and relative humidity 35-55%

Degradation could take anything from a few weeks to 24 months depending on the conditions – the levels of oxygen, moisture, heat, mechanical stress and microbes will all have an impact.Do these bags have a shelf life?
Yes, because they are biodegradable they will inevitably have a shorter shelf life. The film manufacturer recommends they are kept for no longer than a year from purchase, and in suitable conditions – away from direct sunlight, moisture and other heat sources
