Compostable Gusseted Bags made from 30mu crystal clear NatureFlex ™ which is a 100% home compostable film made from cellulose, derived from sustainable wood pulp. An environmentally friendly choice. Main picture shows this bag holding 500g of lentils and peas, heat sealed with our crimp sealer.
Bag measurements are width x (width plus depth) x height. This bag has a base size of 76x50mm. Please watch the video for an explanation.
Due to the nature of this film, the film manufacturer recommends that the bags are used within 6 months and stored in suitable conditions. In reallity our customers are reporting that they are actually lasting in perfect condition much longer, as long as they are stored correctly. Recommended storage conditions are away from local heat sources, out of direct sunlight, and ideally between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius.
The film manufactuer also specifically recommends that the films should not be used in applications that would involve processing, treatment or storage at temperatures below −30°C (for example, blast freezing).
Please note that these bags are made from natural materials and as such are not as strong as Polypropylene bags. It is recommended that you don't put too much weight in them. It is essential that you test your products in them before purchasing and we would be pleased to send free samples.

How quickly will these bags break down?
Natureflex™ film has the EN 13432 norm for industrially compostable packaging and the Vincotte OK Compost Home standard which means it has been proven to break down within 12 weeks.
How do I measure Natureflex gusseted bags
Lets take an example. Our NFB0307GU has the measurements 70x100x180mm. The first and last measurements are the width and height, and the middle measurement is the width plus the gusset depth. It can be confusing but this is an industry wide way of displaying these bags measurements and we have to use them too. If you look at the description by each picture we have listed width, length, gusset depth, and base size to make it as easy as possible. If you are still unsure please request a sample to try. We also have a video which will help - Click here
What happens if these bags end up in landfill?
These bags are designed to be disposed of by composting - either at home or in an industrial composter. The good news is that if they do end up in landfill, they won't release anything environmentally harmful into the soil or environment (including methane).
What happens if these bags end up in the sea?
NatureFlex ™was tested to and passed the ASTM D7081 standard. This standard demands 30% biodegradation in 30 days in seawater, which was achieved.
This standard is currently ‘dormant’ pending future new standards. The film manufacturer believes that NatureFlex’s ™ biodegradation in such an environment would be roughly linear (i.e. expect 50% biodegradation in 50 days, etc…) It also fully passes the physical disintegration tests of the standard and also passes the marine-ecotoxicity tests.
Would the film be suitable for washed salad leaves (slightly damp when they go in the bag)?
The film will tend to soften over time. It would be OK for short-term use but we wouldn’t recommend it for longer use eg: supermarket bagged salad leaves…
