Our eco-friendly, UK compostable, sustainable and biodegradable bags will decompose when bacteria or other living organisms act on them. Home compostable bags can be composted along with your garden waste, and sometimes food waste (depending on local kerbside collections) and will degrade quite quickly.
Every year approximately 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are used worldwide with a very small percentage being recycled, meaning a lot end up in landfill where they take many years to degrade.
NatureFlex ™ is a compostable film made from wood pulp. It is certified to the EN 13432 norm for industrially compostable packaging and the Vincotte OK Compost Home standard. It is GM free and sourced from managed locations. This film has excellent properties and is made from renewable, sustainable sources, an environmentally friendly choice.
Customers should conduct their own tests to determine the optimum shelf life of the wrapped product, and whether the film is suitable for their use. This will vary depending on the product requirements. However, NatureFlex films have successfully been used to wrap products which have a shelf life of up to and even beyond 3 years.
Natureflex is a very stable material and will not biodegrade or show any loss in mechanical properties on the shelf if it is stored correctly. Recommended storage conditions are away from local heat sources, moisture, out of direct sunlight, and ideally between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius. Biodegradation will only be initiated in a soil, compost or waste water environment where micro-organisms are present.
Products made from NatureFlex ™ are also exempt from the Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT), unlike other compostable bags and film.
The film manufacturers specifically recommends that the films should not be used in applications that would involve processing, treatment or storage at temperatures below −30°C (for example blast freezing).
Please note that these bags are made from natural materials and as such are not as strong as Polypropylene bags. It is recommended that you don't put too much weight in them or mechanically fill them. It is essential that you test your products in them before purchasing and we would be pleased to send free samples - please request samples by emailing sales@transpack.co.uk.
