Our popular NatureFlex™ Block Bottom SOS (square opening sachet) Bags are now available in NatureFlex™ film which is made from wood pulp sourced from sustainable, managed locations. It's compsotable and GM free. This film has excellent properties, and an environmentally friendly choice.
Products made from NatureFlex ™ are also exempt from the Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT), unlike other compostable bags and film.
Natureflex™ is a very stable material and will not biodegrade or show any loss in mechanical properties on the shelf if it is stored correctly. Recommended storage conditions are away from local heat sources, out of direct sunlight, and ideally between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius. Biodegradation will only be initiated in a soil, compost or waste water environment where micro-organisms are present.
Customers should conduct their own tests to determine the optimum shelf life of the wrapped product. This will vary depending on the product requirements. However, Natureflex ™ films have successfully been used to wrap products which have a shelf life of up to and even beyond 3 years.
Please note that the bases of these bags are glued rather than heat sealed. The panel which is glued to the base is Natureflex™ but the glue is not compostable. Please note that if you are switching from Polypropylene to Natureflex™, it is important that you test the bags first as they are not as strong as Polypropylene bags. It is also important that any aggressive filling methods are tested by the customer before purchasing
The film manufacturer specifically recommends that the films should not be used in applications that would involve processing, treatment or storage at temperatures below −30°C (for example, blast freezing).
