Transpack Ltd: Packaging supplies and our history

Transpack is a long-established family-run packaging and polythene bag supplier. We recently celebrated our 69th anniversary! Our warehouse is based in Totton, Southampton - on the edge of the New Forest.
Transpack started life as Transatlantic Plastics in 1953, in a single-room shop on Fulham Palace Rd in London, selling small quantities of Polythene bags with, or so the story goes, a shoe box for a till.

By the late 60's and early 70's Transatlantic Plastics had grown to become not only one of the largest suppliers of polythene bags, but also sold secondary double glazing, gardening, and DIY products in the South of England. We supplied companies such as the Forestry Commission, various police forces, hospitals, and even British Airways with front wheel covers for the Concorde. We also had a manufacturing and special fabrications plant at Ventnor on the Isle of Wight and 18 retail shops!

In 1977, Transatlantic Plastics supplied miles and miles of red, white & blue polythene for flags and bunting for the Queens Silver Jubilee. In the early 80's we opened two new shops in the South and two more in the Midlands with a large warehouse at Daventry. We also had a regular stand at the Chelsea Flower Show, supplying polythene sheeting and other goods to avid gardeners.

Our retail shops have since closed, and Transatlantic Plastics has evolved into Transpack Ltd, expanding its ranges into the wide array of packaging and gift packaging products that you see on the current website today.
